Miscommunication

According to dictionary.com...

mis·com·mu·ni·cate

[mis-kuh-myoo-ni-keyt] Show IPA
verb (used with object), verb (used without object), -cat·ed, -cat·ing.
to communicate mistakenly, unclearly, or inadequately.

I have relearned the definition of this over and over again as I get older, unfortunately I have to keep relearning it.

It is imperative to let your partner know what's going on, that and anyone that is a part of something.  Examples:  Let your boyfriend know about family parties, it may be important for him to be there.
When doing a team assignment for school...please let every person in the group know that they are responsible for something, that there is an assignment due, and when it is due.  Not to mention what the assignment is.

These are just two lessons regarding the use and understanding of the word- miscommunication.

I am sharing this so that you too can learn this lesson, but rather than experiencing it you can learn from my lessons.

Fill in the Blank Friday

My most favorite birthday was when I turned 8.  It was the first BIG get together for my birthday and I realized exactly how loved I was by everyone around me.
My worst birthday was my 17th because I shared it with a very good friend but I felt a little bit forgotten not to mention crying by the end of the party :(
My favorite birthday memory is this year's birthday, I spent it with my daughter, boyfriend, family and my close friends that have stayed with me this long.
The best birthday present I've ever received was a painting that my boyfriend made for me.  It made me feel so special to have someone make a painting inspired by me and made just for me :)
The best birthday present I've ever given was blankets that I spent a lot of time making and putting a lot of love into.
Birthdays are a jumbled mess of emotion at this point in my life.  I am young and a mommy so feeling young and old at the same time is a little bit confusing but an adventure all the same.
My favorite age so far has been now, 21.  I am finally figuring out who I am and learning so many great things every day.

True Love

Being young, a new mom, and a student, I find it hard sometimes to remember the simple things.  I forget sometimes that a simple note to the love of your life to show some extra appreciation can do wonders for any relationship.  I recently have decided to give my boyfriend quotes of love everyday (or at least try to).  I have found many that are inspiring and deep.  I want to share some of them from time to time to remind people that love is a foundation of a relationship that needs to be tended to constantly, and all it takes is a few words to let the other person know that you truly love them and who they are.

"When you fall in love it is a temporary madness.  It erupts like an earthquake and then it subsides.  And when it subsides, you have to make a decision.  You have to work out whether your roots have become so entwined together that it is inconceivable that you should ever part.  Because this is what love is.  Love is not breathless, it is not excitement, it is not the desire to mate every second of every day.  It is not lying awake at night imagining that he is kissing every part of your body.  No...don't blush.  I am telling you some truths.  For that is just being in love; which any of us can convince ourselves we are.  Love itself  is what is left over, when being in love has burned away..." -From the movie Captain Corelli's Mandolin

I know that this is a long quote but to take some of it out would destroy it's true meaning and the effect of it's power because at the end of the day it is not about what is short and sweet or easy to handle, what is important is the mountains of adversity that are conqured together as a couple.  For that is a true test of strength and durability in this life.

I hope this will brighten your day and the day of your loved one :)

Doesn't it Figure?

Here is a scene that plays itself out more often than not in my house- I will lay it out for you.

I finally put Jaiden down for a nap.  After taking care of a few chores that need to get done I actually have 10-15 minutes to cook a decent meal of some sort for myself.  I make a wonderfully amazing plate of pleasing food. I sit down at the table to enjoy my meal and as the fork is being lifted to my mouth...Jaiden wakes up and starts crying. I then have to manage to find a way to entertain her and eat at the same time.

A few days ago this sad scenario was even more frustrating.  I made a vineagrette for a lovely salad but the lettuce was bad.  After I got over that let down I made chorizo refried beans with eggs and tortillas.  MMMMMMM...yummy in my tummy :) Or so I thought...I sat down to eat and yet again Jaiden wakes up and amazingly enough there are no available people to pick her up from her bed.  So I leave my plate for no more than 30 seconds and come back to one of the dogs eating my food!

At this point I gave up on lunch.  It was not in the cards for me.  All that there was left to do was laugh and plan a delicious big dinner.  In the end I did eat a nice big dinner and learned a mommy lession.  Make faster food and do not leave it any where that a dog can get it or a hungry family member  :)

Mommies, daddies, and anyone who experiences this- Good Luck ;)

A New Beginning

I am new to this world of blogging.  I noticed my sister making a post and I was immediately interested.  I only hope my stories evoke laughter and a sense of "I'm not the only one!" that people sometimes need.  Myself included.  I am the mother of a 4 month old little girl who is already a mighty force to be reckoned with.  Add that to moving in with my boyfriend, and his parents, and my life is full of firsts, laughs, and one big new beginning.  I went from school, work and friends to being an at home mother.  In the span of a year.  By the way I am only 21 years old soooo...it is a lot.  Needless to say I am loving this new and exciting adventure.  I am learning new things about myself, my boyfriend, my patience, and how to laugh, even when things seem out of control.

Anyone who is a mother or father, or maybe just deals with a lot of patience testing people, can attest to being so frustrated that you just laugh.  In that moment you realize that what you were about to go completely postal on, in the scheme of things, really is not that important.  Such as a pair of pants lying on the floor, hours after a certain someone was supposed to pick them up.  Or even when your baby decides that she does not need her nap and will not take it no matter how tired, cranky, or how obvious it is that she needs one.  Laughing is the best medicine, sanity saver, and way to live.

Anyone who has gone from working to being an at home parent can also attest to the restlessness that occurs.  There is no amount of laundry or dishes that can really keep ones mind as busy as it needs to be.  I am looking forward to using this opportunity to expand not only my general knowledge but give my brain some challenges to make it through what can be mind numbingly boring days.

I am looking forward to sharing my thoughts and stories with you :)
